These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the MacBook Pro Data Recovery website and services provided by Jason Larsen and JML Ventures ("I", "me", or "my"). By using my services, you agree to these Terms.
Services Offered
I provide specialized data recovery services for MacBook Pro models A1706 and A1707 (2016-2017 with Touch Bar). My services include:
- Data recovery from non-booting or dead MacBook Pro devices
- Transfer of recovered data to an external drive or cloud storage
- Optional return of your MacBook or responsible recycling
Service Limitations
Please note the following limitations:
- Supported models only: I only service MacBook Pro models A1706 and A1707. Other models are not supported.
- Data recovery only: I do not offer repair services. Your MacBook will not be repaired as part of this service.
- No guarantee of recovery: While I have a high success rate, data recovery cannot be guaranteed in all cases. Physical damage to the SSD chip may prevent recovery.
Pricing and Payment
Evaluation
Initial evaluation and consultation are free. I will assess your situation and advise whether shipping your device for recovery is appropriate.
Service Fees
Current pricing (subject to change):
- MacBook Return: $400 - Data recovery with your MacBook returned to you
- MacBook Recycle: $350 - Data recovery with responsible recycling of your MacBook
No Recovery, No Fee
I operate on a "no recovery, no fee" basis. If I am unable to recover your data, you will not be charged for the recovery service. You are still responsible for shipping costs.
Shipping Costs
You are responsible for the cost of shipping your MacBook to me. If you choose the MacBook Return option, return shipping costs will be discussed before the service begins.
Service Process
- Evaluation Request: Submit an evaluation request through my website.
- Consultation: I will contact you to discuss your situation and determine if my service is appropriate.
- Shipping: If we proceed, you ship your MacBook to me using a trackable carrier.
- Recovery: I attempt to recover your data using specialized equipment.
- Delivery: Recovered data is transferred to an external drive or secure download link.
- MacBook Disposition: Your MacBook is either returned to you or responsibly recycled, per your choice.
Your Data
Data Handling
I take the security and privacy of your data seriously. During the recovery process:
- I am the only person who will access your device and data
- All work is performed in a secure, private workspace
- Your data is processed on systems not connected to the internet
- I do not view, copy, or retain your personal files beyond what is necessary for recovery
Data Deletion
After you confirm receipt of your recovered data, I securely wipe all copies from my systems. I do not retain any of your personal data.
Limitation of Liability
Data recovery is a best-effort service. I cannot guarantee recovery of any specific files or data. By using my services, you acknowledge and agree that:
- I am not liable for any data that cannot be recovered
- I am not liable for any pre-existing damage to your device
- My total liability is limited to the amount you paid for services
- I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
Device Condition
You represent that you are the lawful owner of the device you send for recovery, or have authorization from the owner to access its data. I reserve the right to refuse service if I have reason to believe the device may be stolen or the request is fraudulent.
Abandoned Devices
If you fail to respond to communications regarding your device for more than 90 days after recovery is complete, the device may be considered abandoned and will be responsibly recycled.
Intellectual Property
All content on this website, including text, images, and design, is the property of Jason Larsen and is protected by copyright law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without permission.
Changes to Terms
I may update these Terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of my services after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved through good-faith negotiation or, if necessary, in a court of competent jurisdiction in the state of Maine.
