As a solo operator, I offer unique advantages over larger data recovery companies:
- Single-person operation: I'm the only one accessing your device throughout the entire process
- Direct accountability: You work directly with me from start to finish - no middlemen or multiple technicians
- 20+ years Tech + Apple Experience: I understand technology, Apple products, and security deeply.
- Healthcare data sensitivity background: I understand the importance of confidentiality and data security from my work in healthcare IT
- Personal attention: Limited monthly capacity means your device gets my full focus
Your data never passes through multiple hands or sits in a queue with dozens of other devices. It's just you and me.
Hopefully we decided it wasn't best to ship your computer in the first place. However, if you pay to ship your computer to me and I can't recover the data, we'll decide what to do next, whether that's shipping the computer back to you (paying only shipping fees), or I can recycle the computer, making sure to destroy the hard drive (it's likely already destroyed if I can't recover data). Again, I only charge if I successfully recover your files.
After you submit your evaluation request, I'll send you detailed shipping instructions immediately after making sure that's the next best step. Here's what I recommend:
- Use a sturdy cardboard box with at least 2 inches of padding on all sides (no envelopes - too much risk of further damage)
- Wrap your MacBook in bubble wrap or foam padding
- Fill any empty space with packing material to prevent shifting - the more full the box, the better
- Include a note with your contact information inside the box
- Ship via a trackable carrier (UPS, FedEx, or USPS with tracking)
I'll provide you with my shipping address and any additional specific instructions based on your device's condition.
I choose to keep my prices lower and only charge for data recovery. That way you have control over the cost of shipping, rather than me upcharging for that service. So yes, you will cover the cost of shipping your MacBook to me. Once I've completed the recovery process, you can choose whether you'd like me to ship your computer back to you, or if you'd prefer I recycle it responsibly on your behalf. I recommend recycling, as I'll wipe the hard drive and the computer will either be reused for parts or responsibly recycled at an Apple store.
Most clients find that the shipping investment is minimal compared to the value of recovering irreplaceable photos, documents, and memories.
My specialized recovery process can retrieve virtually all types of data from your MacBook Pro's SSD, including:
- Documents: Word files, PDFs, spreadsheets, presentations
- Photos & Videos: All image formats, video files, raw photo files
- Music & Audio: iTunes library, audio recordings, podcasts
- Work Files: Project files, code repositories, databases
- Email & Contacts: Mail archives, address books, calendar data
- Application Data: Settings, preferences, and app-specific files
- Developer Data: SSH keys, custom scripts, etc.
Even if your MacBook won't turn on or has suffered liquid damage, I can often recover the data stored on the SSD chip.
I take data security extremely seriously. Here's how I protect your information:
- Solo operation: I'm the only person who will access your device and data
- Secure workspace: All recovery work is performed in my secure, private workspace with no public access
- Data destruction: After you confirm receipt of your data, I securely wipe all copies from my systems - none of which are connected to the internet
- No data retention: I never keep copies of your recovered data
- Healthcare background: My experience in healthcare IT means I understand HIPAA-level data sensitivity
Your privacy and data security are my top priorities. I handle every device with the same care and confidentiality I'd expect for my own data.
No, I don't offer MacBook repair services. My expertise is focused exclusively on data recovery for the A1706 and A1707 MacBook Pro models specifically. By specializing in just data recovery, I can offer a level of expertise and attention that wouldn't be possible if I were juggling multiple types of services.
If your MacBook needs repairs after data recovery, I recommend finding a certified or trusted repair shop, as Apple likely won't repair these older models.
My goal is simple: get your precious data back safely. That's what I do best, and that's all I do.
It's technically possible, but comes with significant challenges. If your MacBook Pro won't turn on, the only way to access the data is through a specialized Apple component called a "lifeboat adapter." This tool connects directly to the soldered SSD chip on your logic board.
Here's what you'd need to know:
- Specialized equipment: You'll need to find and purchase a lifeboat adapter (often hard to source)
- Technical disassembly: Opening these MacBook models requires precision and the right tools
- Risk of damage: The SSD is permanently soldered to the logic board - any mistake during disassembly could permanently destroy your data
- Technical knowledge: You'll need to understand how to properly connect and read from the SSD chip
Because Apple soldered the SSD directly to the logic board in these models (unlike older MacBooks with removable storage), there's no simple "plug and play" solution. The data can't be accessed any other way when the computer won't boot.
